"The Master's House" Celebrates Tenth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. LaPradd and son, Daniel

David Piercy, a grateful and humble man, felt in his heart that he should start a program to help men in recovery from addictions. He named it "The Master"s House" and opened the doors August 1, 2005. It is a Christian home located at 727 Polkville Rd. in Shelby, where men who have strayed into drug use or alcohol abuse can come, live and restructure their lives. Since opening, there have been over 400 men come through it's doors. The Master's House is able to take seven men at a time. They live there 24 hours a day as they strive to rebuild their lives in a healthy Christian environment. In the ten years they have had over 50 men return to their families and society in a positive manner. As David says: "These men come from all walks of life. There are white collar business men and laborers. Some living in fine houses on the lake to men living in cardboard boxes in the woods. Addiction is no respecter of a person."
On Saturday, July 18th at Love Valley Baptist Church, The Master's House celebrated their tenth anniversary with a gracious and thankful crowd. The service opened most appropriately with the hymn "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder". Prayers and gratitude was the order of the day. Love Valley Pastor Barry Philbeck gave the sermon. People, husbands, wives, sisters and brothers all came to celebrate. They all showed their gratitude for David Piercy and "The Master's House". David takes no credit, he says it is all "the works of the Lord".
Daniel LaPradd, one of the residents of The Master's House, a young man from Northside Baptist Church in Jessup, Georgia, took the advice of his preacher, Anthony Hipps, and came to "The Master's House". Daniel was an honor student in college and maintained a 3.9 grade point average. However, his life had taken a turn for the worse. He finished 3 years of college majoring in Communications, but got caught up with the wrong crowd. His life was in a downward spiral and out of control. While at "The Master's House" Daniel said he finally gave up and asked "The Lord to lead him." Now he says: "I'd like to be a preacher or maybe a missionary. I'd like to help bring peace to the world." He credits "The Master's House" program with being the instrument of the Lord that "saved me".
David says, "some of the men who have lived here have not heeded the will of God in their life. However, "The Master's House" will always be there for them, providing a facility to help those in need and hopefully helping them "find the way".
Congratulations and continued success to David Piercy and that very special place called "The Master's House".

Proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaPradd came all the way from Jessup, Georgia to be with their son, Daniel, who has been in The Master's House program for a year. Daniel is now enrolled in the Ambassador Baptist College and wants to be a preacher. He was in college for three years and just wasting his life away when his pastor, Anthony Hipps, advised him to go to The Master's House and see if he could change his life. He and his parents are very thankful and proud of their son.
