SHELBY- Valerie Holland Short, 89, died at her home Friday, April 6, 2017. A native of Cleveland County, she was born to the late Gifton and Cora Davis Holland.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Alison Short; sister Mildred Peck; and brothers Max and C.O. Holland.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her son, Phil Short and wife Judy of Shelby; grandson Phillip Jason Short of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, Monday, April 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM

OFFICIATING: Rev. Richard Stroup will be officiating.

BURIAL: Internment will be at Cleveland Memorial Park
