Virginia Dycus Spangler, age 96, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on June 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William Elizah and Lillie Elizabeth Allen Dycus. Virginia was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She retired from Elizabeth School where she was the manager of the Lunchroom for 27 years. In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, J. A. "Ab" Spangler, three brothers, Robert Dycus, Tom Dycus and Joe Dycus; a sister, Patsy Anderson Propst.; nephews ,Dan Dycus, Larry Dycus, and Joe "Junior" Dycus, and niece, Hannah Brown

Virginia is survived by a son, Dr. Craig Spangler and wife Dr. Gayle Spangler of Belmont; a brother, Robert Dycus of Charlotte; a granddaughter, Angela Spangler Hastings; a great granddaughter, Katelyn Hastings; three nieces, Creola Pearson, , and Joyce Miller; and three nephews, Bobby Dycus, Bruce Dycus, and Barry Dycus.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale and Rev. Clint Padgett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the sanctuary.
