Virginia Reid Falls Bost

Virginia Reid Falls Bost, born November 1, 1923, died peacefully at her residence at The Sterling House in Shelby, Monday, December 1, 2014. Virginia was educated in the Shelby Schools and was a graduate of Queen’s University in Charlotte. She worked a year (1944-1945) at Quartermaster Depot in Charlotte before marrying Lloyd Bost in 1945 and becoming a homemaker. She belonged to the Cecilia Music Club, the Cleveland Springs Garden Club, the Chicora Book Club, the Evelyn Hill Bible Study, the Laura Lawrence Round Table and the Literario Book Club. First Baptist Church in Shelby was an important part of her life. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She was WMU Director for two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bayard Thurman Bost and Selma Eskridge Falls; a brother, B.T. Falls Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Falls Heisler and Sara Falls Lyon; and her husband of 51 years, Lloyd C. Bost.

 

She is survived by four children, Lloyd C. Bost Jr. and wife Brenda of Hickory, Jann Ford and husband Bill of Shelby, Byard Bost and wife Susan of Davidson, and Harlan Bost and wife Patty of Jacksonville, FL.; 10 grandchildren, Gary Shuford (Leigh), Daniel Shuford (Kim), Brian Shuford (Annie), Melanie Bost Dunker (Matt), Virginia Bost Deaton (Wesley), Sarah Bost, Eric Bost, Madeline Bost, Elaina Bost and Katharine Bost, and 4 great-grandchildren, Marley Shurford, Madeline Shuford, Maddox Dunker and Maxwell Shuford.  

 

A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, December 13, 2014, at First Baptist Church, Shelby, with visitation to follow.  Interment service will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to First Baptist Church, 120 N Lafayette St. Shelby NC 28150 or Cleveland County Memorial Library, 104 Howie Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
