Vivian Rae Mullinax

Gaffney -- Vivian Rae Mullinax, 83, of 886 McKowns Mountain Road, passed away Wednesday, May 24th, 2017, at Mary Black Health System - Spartanburg.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Bryant Mullinax and the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Martha Sue Peterson Mullinax. Mrs. Mullinax worked as a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Vivian loved making her own food. She loved to garden and always preserved some of what she grew. What wasn't preserved was cooked and fed to anyone that wanted to stop by. Many, many years ago, Mrs. Mullinax even sold milk and butter that she churned herself.

Surviving Mrs. Mullinax are a daughter, Sheila Greene, and husband, Alan, of Gaffney, two special nephews, Jerry Bolin and wife, Frankie, and Tony Mullinax and daughter, Ashley, and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mullinax was preceded in death by four brothers: Wilton, Eugene, Harold Dean, and Chunk Mullinax, and four sisters: Nellie Bolin, Ailene Wilson, Betty Mullinax, and Sue Mullinax.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25th, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney, 211 E. Frederick St. Gaffney, SC 29340. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26th, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 412 McKowns Mountain Road Gaffney, SC 29340, with Rev. Eddie Willis, Rev. Tommy Wright, and Rev. Henry Guyton officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Building Fund, 412 McKowns Mountain Road, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Sheila Greene, 882 McKowns Mountain Road, Gaffney.
