Mr. Walter L. Standley, 82, of Mary's Grove Road, passed away
on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Peak Resources in Shelby.

Mr. Standley was born in Morgan County, Illinois on November 12, 1933 a son
of the late Walter O. Standley and Lorena Plank Standley. He was retired as
a local driver for Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation of Cherryville and
was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Gastonia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma H.
Standley and a brother Donald Dean Standley.

Survivors include three sons, Nelson Standley of Cherryville; Michael
Standley of Shelby and Jeffrey Standley of Cherryville; a daughter, Lora Ann
Standley of Cherryville; two brothers, Kenneth and Roger Standley, both of
Jacksonville, Illinois; a sister, Dorothy David of Webster, Massachusetts;
eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 1:45 to 2:45PM at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3:00PM at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel with Mr. Don
Johnson officiating.

Burial will be private.
