Wayborn Lee Mitchell, 86, of 3009 Fallston-Waco Rd. in Shelby passed away
Saturday April 22, 2017 at home.

Born June 25, 1930 in Alleghany County, he was a son of the late Elmer
Mitchell and Leora Hendrix Mitchell. He was the retired farm manager for
Cedar Lake Farm and was a member of Waco Baptist Church. He was a devoted
father and grandfather who enjoyed farming and hunting. He also served in
the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was prceded in death by one son, Gary
Mitchell and one brother, Arnold Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife of sixty four years, Jean Rector Mitchell; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Sharon Mitchell of Cherryville and David
& Debbie Mitchell of Shelby; sister and brother-in-law, Racene & John
Hatcher of High Point; sister-in-law, Opal Mitchell of Statesville; three
grandchildren, Christopher Mitchell, Simon Philbeck and B.J. Philbeck and
wife Amanda; two great grandchildren, Alex and Grayson Philbeck.

The visitation will be 6:00PM until 8:00PM Monday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home.

The funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Waco Baptist Church with Dr.
Harold Fite officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty
minutes prior to the service.

A second visitation will be 11:00AM until 12:00PM at Grand View Funeral Home
in Sparta.

A second funeral service will be 12:00PM at Grand View Funeral Home Chapel
in Sparta.

Burial will follow in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery.
