7th Annual Basketball Camp at Crest High School, July 22-25

The 7th Annual Coach Rhodes Basketball Camp will be held at Crest High School on July 22 - 25, Wednesday-Friday, 6pm - 9pm and Sat. 9am-11:30am.
Former Crest High Basketball coach and Enrollment Counselor at Gardner Webb College will lead the camp.
Camp Coach Rhodes is a non-profit organization whose mission is to teach and encourage students on the court and in the classroom. For the past six years, the camp has provided an engaging opportunity for children to improve their basketball skills and have fun. Camp Coach Rhodes utilizes an intergenerational model to identify and develop the talents of all athletes. High school and college players assist in coaching middle school and elementary-age campers, and semi-professional athletes and professional-level players mentor beginners.
Coaches and mentors spend time each day to help campers hone skills in the areas of teamwork, communication, sportsmanship and academics.
After six years of hosting successful camp experiences, they are planning to expand their services for students by providing clinics in several additional sports throughout the year.
Keith Rhodes is committed to assisting all participants with the fundamentals of basketball during basketball camp.
He believes that all students are capable of learning and will assist each camper with their individual learning capabilities. Campers will be instructed in areas of basic shooting, passing, and defensive position, and participate in daily games and some scrimmages. The hope is to provide quality camp instruction that campers find both fun and competitive.
There will be several guests stopping by to speak to the campers. Last year, there were representatives from: WBTV News3 - Colleen Harry, local radio stations, local motivational speakers, and Charlotte Hornets - Guard Matt Carroll along with mascot HUGO.
