Connell James (Buck) Merrell
Born in Hendersonville, NC, Mr. Merrell was the son of Lucille Reep Merrell of the home and the late Chris Connell Merrell. Mr. Merrell worked as a truck driver and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Merrell is his mother, Lucille; two sons, Jonathan Merrell of Belton, SC and Corey Merrell of the home; three brothers, Robert Humphries of Black Mountain, NC, Christopher Merrell of Blacksburg, and Michael Merrell of Blacksburg; and three sisters, Brenda O'Shields of Dalton, GA, Bobbie Corry of Blacksburg, and Billie Duff of Savannah, GA.
In addition to his father, Mr. Merrell was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin; a sister, Corrine Chandler; and a nephew, Jeremiah Merrell.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 30th, 2011 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1st, at 2:00pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Grady Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
