Born September 18, 1946 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late

Leonard Harvey and Mary Sue Grant Harvey.  She was a weaver for 32 years for

Doran Textiles.  Katie was a member of Way of the Cross Freewill Baptist

Church for 16 years.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie

Ann Melton and a sister, Catherine Harvey.

 

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Billy Gene Melton; three sons,

Billy Dean Melton of Lawndale; Ricky Dale Melton of Shelby; and Rodney

Dwayne Melton of Lawndale; two daughters, Lori Denise Melton of Lawndale and

Katie Michelle Melton of Lawndale; two sisters, Linda Harris of Gaffney, SC

and Ruby Jessup of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren and six

great-grandchildren.
