Aaron E. Rogers, Sr.


 Mr. Aaron E. Rogers, Sr., 79 of 111 Farnsworth Dr. passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his residence.

Aaron was born in Cleveland County, NC on December 15, 1931 a son of the late Robert Rogers and Ella Lovelace Rogers.  He was retired from Shelby Hardware and Shelby Glidden Paint Center and was known as the paint man.  Aaron was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church of Cherryville and attended the Young at Heart group.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his daughter, Beth Rogers and friend Barbara Hamrick of Shelby; two sons Aaron “Rusty” Rogers, Jr. and friend Billie Justice of Earl, David Rogers and friend Susan White of Waco; special friend and companion, Janice Beam and her son Michael and wife Angie of Cherryville; two brothers Jim Rogers of Doylestown, PA and Jerry Rogers of Cherryville; one sister Betty Ford of Winchester, TN; four grandchildren Chase Rogers, Gage Beam, Erika and Corey Hoyle.

In addition to his parents Aaron was preceded in death by a sister Louise Drewery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 12:30 to 1:45p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Cherryville with the Rev. Tim Robbins officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Cherryville American Legion Post 100.
