Mrs. Agnes Ellis Elmore, 88, departed this life on June 18, 2026 in West End, NC. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was born on August 23, 1937 to the late Jacob McBrayer Ellis and Novella Thompson Ellis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Matthew Elmore, Jr.; her son, Walter Brian Elmore; and her brothers, Walter B. Ellis, Curtis Ellis, Larry Wayne Ellis, and Jacob Ellis.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory three sons: Anthony Wade Ellis (Tammy) of Shelby, North Carolina; Elder Rodney Eugene Elmore of Raeford, North Carolina; and Ernest Matthew Elmore III (Tonia) of Shelby, North Carolina. She also leaves a special niece, Priscilla Roseboro (Rev. Lawrence Roseboro) of Shelby, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11:30 AM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
