Alton Kenneth Devine
Alton Kenneth Devine, 94, of 4034 Devine Road, Lawndale, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Cleveland in Shelby.
He was born in Cleveland County, on January 8, 1922, to the late George Andrew Devine and Bessie Elver Smith Devine. Alton retired from General Electric after thirty years of service and also was an agriculture and cattle farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and former deacon and also served twenty five years as church treasurer. He also served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the 7th Air Force as an Airplane Maintenance Technician.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Mozelle Dellinger Devine and sister, Norma McSwain.
He is survived by his son, Chris Devine and wife Lynn of Lawndale; daughter, Saralyn Maples and husband Archie of Lawndale; brother, Ralph Devine of Shelby; five grandchildren, David Devine and wife Kim, Chrystal Clinard and husband Chip, Dana Donaldson and husband Lucas, Laura Davis and husband Chad, and Kyle Maples and wife Heather; and great grandchildren, Spencer, Emma and Peyton Devine, Hunter and Max Davis, Ethan and Jacob Clinard, Logan Maples, and Evan and Ella Donaldson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. Condolences may be made online at www.stameytysingerfuneralhome.com.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Black officiating.
The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
