Minnesota's Eden Prairie Are Champs! The conclusion of the American Legion World Series in Shelby presented a storybook finish for its’ championship game. Tupelo, Mississippi waited to see who they would play for the championship between the winner of Tuesday’s 5 p.m. game between Las Vegas and Eden Prairie. The first game was a pitchers duel and the final score was 2-1 in favor of the Minnesota team. Then, at 8 p.m., Minnesota’s Eden Prairie, who had been denied the championship last year, showed their determination to overcome a 4-0 early lead by Tupelo and eke out a 13 inning 5-4 victory, and win the Series’ last two games. The final day’s journey started at 5 p.m. at Keeter Stadium and ended just shy of midnight on Veterans Field. It was a great display of a team spirit that gave Minnesota’s Eden Prairie their triumph. The championship was a record setting game before a record setting number of baseball fans in Shelby, North Carolina.
