Mr. Anthony Eugene Smith, 68, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away on January 12, 2026, at CaroMont Health Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. He was born on March 14, 1957, in Riverside, California, to the late Curly Alaska Smith and Shirley King Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Dionne Addison Smith; his children, Shanet Smith of Texas, Erin Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Derrick Brooks of Gastonia, NC, Donovan Brooks (Alana Christopher), and Courtney Brooks of Gastonia, NC; eleven grandchildren, Eliyas, Mersie, Tobias, Jamoni, Zaylah, Easton, Arlo, Karsen, Malakai, Camarion, and Sheriah; his sisters, Colette Smith of California and Chrystal Malone of Texas; mother‑in‑law, Betty Lott; father‑in‑law, Dock Addison; sister‑in‑law, Sharon Jackson Hunt (Madrick); brothers‑in‑law, Michael Addison, Brian Jackson, and Scottie Hopper; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel, Shelby, NC.
