Ms. Bertha 'Estine' Jeter Pettis, 88, was born on December 13, 1937, in Crouse, NC, to the late Earl and Robbie Lee Jeter. She passed away on February 8, 2026 at Via Health Partners, Shelby, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Pettis; sisters, Cynthia Moses, Patricia Young, and Linda Sloan; brothers, Robert Jeter, William Jeter, and Larry Jeter.

She is survived by her children, Chip Pettis (Shelia) of Shelby and Deirdre Pettis of the home; grandchildren, Mollie Pettis, Ahman Bilal, Kierra Bilal, and Aspen Bilal; great grandchildren, Kaysen Wimbush and Carson Brown; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. Burial took place at the church cemetery.
