Betty Joyce Hildebran Wright, 94, of Connelly Springs, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 9:20 p.m. at Trinity Village in Hickory.

Joyce was born on July 18, 1932, in Burke County to the late Julius Alexander Hildebran and Mary Jane Cook Hildebran. A gifted musician, she shared her love of music by teaching piano for many years. She faithfully served as pianist at Warlick's Chapel United Methodist Church and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Richmond Wright, and her son, Jerry Douglas Wright, grandson Justin Ryan Wright, and great grandson Simon McGehee.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Margie Harmon and husband, Glenn, of Daytona Beach, Florida; her son, Terry Wright of Newton; four grandchildren; Dr. Tara McGehee of Harrisburg VA, Anna Whitley of Pittsboro NC, Kelsie Wright of Raleigh NC and Jeremy Wright of Cherryville, NC and three great grandchildren; Parula Whitley, Mona McGehee and Strader McGehee. A special love goes out to her caregiver and family friend Chloe Petree.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Glenn Harmon and Rev. Curtis Carroll officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
