Betty Louise McCorkle Peterson, age 75, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her home in Shelby.

Born on October 13, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Joe McCorkle and Maggie McCorkle Weaver.

Betty worked at the Bakery of Ingles for upwards of 25 years, was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed crafting, cross stitching in her free time, and loved putting together a good puzzle. She had a passion for hummingbirds and found comfort watching them come and go from her feeders at the home. Some of her favorite music was from Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Bobby Peterson, her son Danny Pack, a brother Eugene McCorkle, and a sister Joann Love. She is also preceded in death by her great-grandson Caleb Walker.

Betty is survived by her sons Richard Pack, his wife Nancy of Grover, NC, Terry Peterson of Shelby, and Michael Peterson of Kings Mountain. Also left to cherish her memory is her daughter Wendy Whitaker and her husband Steve of Blacksburg, ten grandkids and eleven greatgrandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Barry Miles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1pm - 2pm. Burial will follow the service at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
