Ms. Bettye J. Wilson Bullard, 78, of Bessemer City, NC, gained her wings and passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital. She was born on February 19, 1948, to the late Ralph Wilson and Willie Florence Montgomery Brown Wilson.

In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Alice Montgomery; brother Thomas Brown Jr.; sister Letha A. Wilson; nephew Renaldo "Pecan" Williams; uncles, Robert Montgomery Jr., John Montgomery, Mack Montgomery, Frank Montgomery, James Montgomery; and aunt Mattie Montgomery Whitworth.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories her sons, Charles Lamar Bullard Sr. (Frances), and Christopher Anthony Bullard; sisters Dorothy M. Brown and Marilyn Y. Wilson; brother Pastor Charles L. Ashley Sr. (Angela); grandchildren Charles Lamar Bullard Jr., Jasmine Bullard, Ashley Bullard, and Passion Bullard; great-grandchildren Aubrey and Kyrie Bullard; nieces Felicia Williams Felder (William), Tammara Brown Sumney (Matthew), Tanya Brown Benton (Christopher), LaShay Wilson Redlinger (Shaun); nephew Thomas Brown III (Sheila), along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC 28052. The burial took place at Armstrong Cemetery also in Gastonia.
