Blanche Greene (Walker) Gettys, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Robin Johnson Hospice House located in Dallas, NC. Born in Cleveland County August 13th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late L. Ralph Greene and V. Ada Fowler Greene. She was employed with the Dover Group textiles Shelby, NC for several years, General Electric Florence, SC and retired from Kemet Electronics Shelby, NC. She did some traveling and volunteering after retirement. She may be remembered for her pecan pies at Christmas time baking as many as 10 at Christmas, 5 for the Greene family Christmas gathering and 5 for the Walker Christmas gathering.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edmond (Ed) Walker, 2nd husband Hicks Gettys, four brothers and five sisters.

Blanche is survived by her son Lamar Walker (Sandy), Granddaughter, Tammy Whelchel (Michael), Grandson, Nathan Walker (Paige), Step Granddaughter, Nicci Cabaniss (Scott), Step Grandson, Josh Sharpe (Leslie).

Eleven Great Grand Children, Seven Great-Great Grand Children. Who all referred to her as "Granny".

Two sisters Annette Cooke of Greensboro, NC and JoAnne Luckadoo of Rocky Mount, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Phil Stevens officiating. The visitation is from 12 to 1 pm, with the service to immediately follow.

Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastside Baptist Church
