Bobby Dean Brooks


Bobby Dean Brooks, age 81, of Walker Lake Road, Forest City, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born on Monday, January 21, 1935 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Alfred Glenn Brooks and Mattie Oneal Martin Brooks. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. Bobby was a graduate of the Morganton-Lenoir Community College and a member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge #91. He worked for thirty-seven years at Stonecutter Mills until retirement and was a faithful member of Tanners Grove United Methodist Church where he served as a deacon. Bobby was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially enjoyed weekend camping trips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dian Mullinax, Donnis Morrow and son-in-law, David Timmons.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Betty Brooks; daughter, Bobbie Jean Timmons of Spartanburg; sister, Alice Faye Rosman of Cliffside; two grandchildren, Shawn Timmons Sprouse and husband, Chris and Eric Brooks Timmons and wife, Lauren all of Spartanburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Connor Sprouse, Ashlynn, Katie, Blake, Bradley, Karsyn and Brooks.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Price officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
