Bonnie Melinda Hull Adkins, affectionately known as Bonnie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on August 5, 1940, in Casar, North Carolina, Bonnie was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her 84 years of life.

Bonnie was the cherished daughter of the late Plato and Dona Hull and the devoted wife of the late James Reid Adkins. Her gentle spirit and warm heart will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ron Adkins and his wife, Maria; her daughter, Paula Geurin; her brother, Harold Hull; her sisters, Carol Courson and Berla Cupps; her adored grandchildren, Bill Geurin and his wife, Crystal, Gina Rahbari and her husband, Ari, and Katarina Rossi and her husband, Austin; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Camilla Rahbari, Brianna, Joseph, and Robert Geurin.

Bonnie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith as a Christian. She lived her beliefs through every action and interaction, embodying the virtues of love, kindness, and gentleness. Her family and friends will forever remember her soothing presence and the comfort she brought to their lives.

A graduate of the school of life's experiences, Bonnie's education extended beyond the classroom and into the hearts of those she touched. She was a lifelong learner of compassion and human connection, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

She was a devoted and gifted teacher who had a true passion for sharing her knowledge--whether in the classroom, in the kitchen, or in the garden. Her love of cooking brought joy to those around her, and her garden flourished under a green thumb that could coax life from even the most stubborn soil.

The community will gather to honor and celebrate Bonnie's life at a graveside service on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Terrill Crump, who will share words of comfort and remembrance.

Bonnie's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the impact of her love and the memories she created will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say farewell to Bonnie Melinda Hull Adkins, we hold tight to the warmth she left in our hearts, knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her beloved family and friends.
