Boyd Lee Wood, 85, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at his residence.

Boyd was born on December 19, 1938 in Cleveland County, NC a son of the late Malachi Wood and Ola Mae McCurry Wood. He was retired from Dover Textiles. Boyd was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church in Shelby. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Boyd was also an avid NC State and NASCAR racing fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Wood; a grandson Casey Wood and three sisters, Joyce Deaton, Glady Camp and Faye Walton.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Geraldine Morgan Wood of the home; a daughter, Wanda Harris and husband Rich of Ellenboro; a son, Tracy Wood and wife Michelle of Gastonia; a sister, Mary Lou Heavner of Shelby; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Jason, Madison, Chris and Cameron; ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:45AM to 11:45AM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Lail officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby.
