Bruce Camp's Local Fishing Report Oct. 20th edition
Moss Lake
The last Thursday night bass tournament of the year blasted off last week on Moss Lake. Thirteen boats came out to fish and saw Billy and Michael Melton take the win with 8.34. Arnold and Steve Gordon had 5.94 and landed in second, with Chet Beam taking third with 4.12, he also had big bass with a 3.7.
Saturday the fish-off for all those who qualified from the weekly Thursday events came together on Moss Lake. Twenty-four boats made the call, when all was said and done, Brian and Cody Hoyle took the win with 9.4 and first big bass with a 4.3 largemouth. Second place was 8.2 and went to Randy and Randall Wright, they also had second big bass with a 3.11 largemouth. Matt Arey and Chet Beam took third with 7.0, followed by Reggie and Johnny Guffey with 6.14. Wayne Miller and Phillip Allen settled in fifth with 5.4. Arnold wanted to thank all that came out and fished this year, “ We had a good year, a good fish-off, and a good payback”, and said he planned to start up about the third Thursday in March.
Kosa
The Kosa retirees fished Lake Norman last week with John Black and Roger McNeilly bringing in 9.20 and taking the win. A tie for second between the teams of James Haynes/Tommy Wess and Larry Melton/George Crosswhite, as both brought in 7.0. Ronnie Humphries took third with 6.10 and he had big bass of the day with a 3.45 largemouth. This week it is back to Lake Wylie and a change on the start/finish times. The old timers want that extra hour of sleep, so it is an 8 am blast-off and a 2 pm weigh-in.
CCBC
The Cleveland County Bass Club fished Lake Greenwood last weekend. Ray Hembree took the win and tightened the points race between himself and Roger Beaver. Hembree brought in 8.56, Beaver was second with 7.94. Third went to Tammy Melton with 7.46, and she answered that with big bass of the day, a 4.06 largemouth. Roger Hamrick had 5.84 and was fourth and rounding  out the top five was Larry Melton with 4.20. The top five are really close with 3 events remaining. Beaver holds a 1 point lead over Hembree with Tammy Melton in third, Larry Melton in fourth and Roger Hamrick in fifth. Stumpy Pond will be the stop in October, a date has yet to be decided.
