Bruce Camp's Local Fishing Report September 19th Edition
The retirees were on Lake Norman this week and reports that part of the lake is turning over which made for some tough fishing. John Black and Roger McNeely picked up the win again with a total of 8.9. They also had big bass of the day with a 3.0 largemouth. James Osborne and Ray Hembree took second with 8.3 and Ronnie Humphries was third with 4.3. This week the codgers head to Lake Wylie and hope to have better catches to report. Moss With a threat of rain, only 11 boats came out for the weekly Thursday night bass tournament on Moss Lake. Catches were still pretty good though as Charles and Maverick Canipe picked up the win with 11.74. Reggie and Johnny Guffey had 10.18 and claimed second with Brian Fitch and Larry Denton getting third with 7.44. Brent Shytles and Arnold Ledford had 6.61 and were fourth and fifth went to Bryan Thrift and Matt Arey with 5.63. Big bass was a 3.33 largemouth brought in by the team of Reggie and Johnny Guffey. Arnold says the fish-off is the third Saturday in October and he will continue the weekly Thursday night events until then. CCBC The Cleveland County Bass Club fished Lake Hickory last week and Ronnie Humphries showed out with a catch of 15.54 and got the win. Roger Beaver had 12.42 to claim second and Tammy Melton had 9.32 and settled in third. Larry Melton had 9.04 and was fourth and rounding out the top five was Jamie Canipe with 7.26. Jamie Canipe also had big bass of the day with a 5.36 largemouth. The CCBC will fish Lake Norman next, on a date yet to be decided.
