Calvin Russell Tate, age 57, of Sunshine, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Parker Tate; his father, Carl Tate; and his grandparents, Charlie and Ellen Murray, and Floyd and Lucy Tate. Calvin is survived by his children, Helix Tate (Steven) of Florida, Brittany Farmer (Robbie) of Burlington, Keylon Tate (Brittany) of Forest City, along with five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Malena Tate; his significant other, Deanna Tate Lynch; his siblings, Aaron Tate (Wanda) and Darlene McGinnis (Reggie); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He attended East Rutherford High School and was of the Baptist faith. Calvin was known for working with his hands, especially when it came to cars. He had a gift for auto body work and could make just about anything drivable again. He enjoyed grilling out and spending time with others and will be remembered for his kind spirit. Calvin was a son, brother, father, and friend who will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 8th at Mountain View Baptist Church in Bostic with Reverend Clayton Hartsell officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services have been entrusted with arrangements.
