Mrs. Carolyn Spurling Barnett, 64, of 950 Hardin Drive, Shelby, NC passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010. Services were held at Polkville Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. 

Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, Bate Barnett; her parents, Romie Calvin Spurling and Ruby Lee Goins Spurling; and 1 sister, Janice Sigmon.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mark Barnett of Raleigh, and Pat Barnett and wife Linda of Westminister, MD; 1 daughter, Tammy Fox and husband Lynn of Cherryville; 2 brothers, Harold Spurling and wife Carolyn of Shelby, and Wray Spurling and wife Wilma of Shelby; and 3 grandchildren.
