CCC’s LeGrand Center Is Taking Shape

Standing at the construction site of the LeGrand Center, reviewing plans and discussing the project’s status, are (l to r) Gene LeGrand, Charlie Dubold of Matthews Construction, Bill LeGrand and Stuart LeGrand.
The 84,000 square-foot LeGrand Center is situated on the campus of Cleveland Community College, located on East Marion Street, directly across from the Cleveland County Fairgrounds’ lower entrance. The Center is scheduled for completion in May 2012 and thus far, construction is running ahead of schedule. The building will house a huge Conference Center on the top floor, and the first floor will provide space for Cleveland Early College High School, CCC’s Corporate and Continuing Education Department, and Workforce Development. The completion of the LeGrand Conference Center should result in a positive ripple effect through the community by providing much needed space for Cleveland County’s economic development, travel and tourism. Technology of the new center is so advanced it is beyond state of the art and is influenced by CISCO, one of today’s information technology corporate giants. The LeGrand Center will definitely be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified facility and it is expected to achieve a LEED Silver Certification.
