Cenie Marie Humphries Moore, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at Shelby Manor in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on August 17, 1938, in Rutherford County, NC, Cenie's life was a testament to love, devotion, and an unwavering spirit.
Cenie was known for her profound love of flowers and her joy in cutting the grass, finding peace and contentment in the simple beauty of nature. Her talents were not limited to the garden; she also had a passion for sewing and baking, often delighting her family with her culinary creations. Above all, Cenie treasured the moments spent with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren, who brought boundless joy to her life.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her being, and when she could, she attended Camps Creek Baptist Church, finding solace and strength in her community of faith.
Cenie is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Joe Dean Moore, and her cherished children: Debora Bolton and her husband Dannie of Shelby, NC; Shelia Bumgardner and her husband Esper of Mooresboro, NC; and Michael Moore and his wife Donna of Mooresboro, NC. She was the proud grandmother of Rev. Randy Bumgardner and his wife Karen, Amanda Langley and her husband Travis, Chad Moore, and Jennifer Lindsey and her husband Alan, and was additionally blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, Alex Wichman, Charlotte Wichman, Adam Bumgardner and wife Rose, Allana Friddie and husband Glen, Ansley Bumgardner and Cade Atkinson, Andrew Bumgardner, Noah Langley, Payton Moore, Kaylie Moore, Christopher "Rudy" Lindsey, and Carter Lindsey, and one great-great-granddaughter, Alice Rose, a grand son-in-law, Chris Wichman. Each of her grandchildren carried a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and joys.
Cenie is also remembered by her brothers, Billy Humphries and his wife Brenda, Jerry Humphries and his wife Shirley, and Kenneth Humphries and his wife Revonda, as well as her sister, Sybil Sarratt, four sisters-in-law, Florence Humphries, Sylvia Humphries, Revonda Humphries, and Kim Humphries, all of whom will dearly miss her.
Cenie was preceded in death by her parents, TC Humphries and Ella Bradley Humphries, and several loved ones who have passed, including her granddaughter, Dana Wichman; grandson, Christopher Moore; and siblings Ann Snyder, Imogene Gettys, Willie "Bud" Humphries, Allen Humphries, Ronald Humphries, and David Humphries.
The family will honor Cenie's extraordinary life during visitation on February 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC. A burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Cenie Marie Humphries Moore will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her warmth, love, and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family, as they carry forward the legacies of love and togetherness she instilled in them.
