Charles Milton Hester
Charles Milton Hester, age 79, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Rutherford County on September 14, 1938 he was the son of the late Hugh Edward and Vida Mae Price Hester. Milton was an active member of Double Springs Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and formerly served as a deacon. He retired from Ora Mill as a supply room supervisor after a number of years of service. Milton enjoyed beekeeping and at one time had over 300 beehives. He was also very talented at woodworking and could fix any furniture. He even made his daughters a grandfather clock for Christmas one year. In addition to his parents, Milton is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Phillips.
Milton is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Cabaniss Hester; two daughters, Melanie Hester and husband Roger Newton of Concord and Cindy White and husband David of Casar; three brothers, Roger Hester and wife Janice of Sanford, Russell Hester and wife Gilda of Rutherfordton, and Ron Hester and husband David of Florida; a very special granddaughter, Megan Sherman; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Double Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Fryar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours before the service, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Family Life Center.
