Cherryville - Mr. Charles Walter Godfrey, 67, of Leonhardt Road, passed away
on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at his residence.

Walter was born on May 4, 1952 in Lincoln County, NC a son of Ruth Foster
Godfrey of Cherryville and the late Charles Godfrey. He was an electrician
and a farmer. Walter was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church in
Cherryville and was also an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn
Hull Godfrey and two brothers Robert and David Godfrey.

In addition to his mother, survivors include one son & daughter-in-law,
Shane & Jacki Godfrey of Cherryville, four grandchildren, Cadon Godfrey
Hull, Brennan Godfrey, Mikayla Godfrey and Ryleigh Boggs of Cherryville, a
sister Sarah Farmer and husband Eddie, a brother Wayne Godfrey and wife
Judy; a sister-in-law, Barbara Godfrey all of Cherryville, and a number of
nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 3:00PM at Bess
Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Alice Day and Rev. Jeff Hull
officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
