Cindy Matheney Street


Cindy Matheney Street, age 61, of Ellenboro, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born February 13, 1955 in Gaston County, she is the daughter of Vernon Matheney and Betty Absher Matheney of Ellenboro. She was a graduate of East High School, class of 1973 and of Isothermal Community College, class of 1975. Cindy was a homemaker and a member of Haynes Memorial Baptist Church. She was charter member of the North Carolina Master Gardener Program, where she served for over twenty-five years. Cindy had a heart for others and enjoyed volunteering her time to help people in need.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Ken Street; one son, Ken Street, Jr. of Ellenboro; three sisters, Nancy Skipper of Forest City, Lisa Matheny of Ellenboro and Jane Towery of Cleveland County. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dot Tesseneer and husband, Maynard of Shelby and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Christopher Estep officiating. Interment services will follow in Gantts Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Mike Haire conducting the committal service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at the home of her parents at 163 Dobbins Road, Ellenboro.
