Cleveland County Extension Welcomes Abby Whitaker
Cleveland County Cooperative Extension is pleased to welcome Mooresboro native Abby Whitaker as our new Livestock and Forages Extension Agent. Abby officially joins the staff on October 1, 2026. Abby, who has served as an area livestock agent headquartered in Buncombe County, will now work with livestock producers and farmers throughout Cleveland County, providing research-based information and practical assistance with beef cattle and other livestock, pasture and forage production, grazing management, hay production, and related agricultural issues. \Much of her work will take place on local farms, where she will provide individual assistance and help producers address challenges specific to their operations. She will also organize educational programs, demonstrations, field days, and other activities based on the needs of local farmers. Abby will also work with 4-H members and other young people involved in livestock projects, helping them develop their knowledge and skills in animal care, feeding, management, showmanship, and responsible livestock production. She will support youth livestock activities and work with families, volunteers, and agricultural organizations to provide hands-on learning opportunities. We are excited to have Abby join our team and look forward to introducing her to farmers, youth, families, and agricultural partners throughout Cleveland County. Please join us in welcoming Abby Whitaker to Cleveland County Cooperative Extension! Submitted by Gregory Traywick
