Clyde Thomas Brown

Clyde Thomas Brown, 80 of Hull Road, Lawndale, passed away on January 29, 2026 at the Laurels of Hendersonville.
Clyde was born on May 5, 1945 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Clyde Lafayette Brown and Louise Tallent Brown. Clyde was retired from National Fruit Product Company (White House) and was also a third-generation farmer who, alongside his son, Brent, produced apples, squash, and blackberries. His passion for agriculture and his outstanding contributions to the industry were recognized when he was honored with the Lincoln County Farm Family of the Year award. His dedication to his profession extended beyond his own fields as he served as a past president of the NC Apple Growers and was one of the founding members of the Lincoln County Apple Festival.
Clyde's leadership and commitment to service were evident through his involvement with various organizations. He was a past president of the Lincoln County Rotary Club and the West Lincoln High School Sports Boosters in the 1980s. His guidance and wisdom also benefited the Southeastern Food Processors Association, where he served as the chairman of the board.
Clyde bravely served his country in the United States Air Force, completing two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of Bess Chapel Global Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie "Sissy" Heavner Brown.
Clyde is survived by his son, Brent Brown and wife, Trina of Cherryville; daughter, Nikki Snead and husband, Zach of Columbia, SC and four grandchildren, Alex Brown and wife, Morgan, Laura Brown, Lilly Snead and Zachary Snead. He was also known as daddy Clyde to several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Bess Chapel Global Methodist Church with Rev. Stan Nantz officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers over the years for caring for Clyde and the staff at Laurels of Hendersonville and Carolina Foothills Hospice care.
