Dale Y. Scoggin

Dale Y. Scoggin

Dale Y. Scoggin died April 3, 2023 after an extended illness.

She was born February 29th 1951. Her parents were the late James R. and Louise Brooks Scoggin.

Survivors include three aunts: Faye Womack, Becky Scoggin and JoAnne Scoggin, a host of cousins and one special cousin, Janice Brooks Moorefield. Also surviving is her precious fur baby Roscoe.

Dale was a 1970 graduate of RS Central High School and a graduate of Gardner Webb University. She began her working career at Spindale Mills as Plant Accountant.

Jim and Louise founded Scoggin's Seafood and Streak Restaurant in 1959. Louise decided to retire early and in 1986 told Dale she could have the restaurant, or she would sell it. Dale wanted her parents' legacy continued so she became owner and operator. She carried on their legacy until her health declined and closed the doors May 2022. The restaurant was in the Scoggin's family for 63 years.

Dale's greatest love was Golf. She was a member of Rumbling Bald where she made many new friends. Dale was short in stature but could drive a golf ball a long distance. For anyone who has played golf, a hole in one is considered a great feat. Well, Dale had 2 hole in one credits to her name, both at Rumbling Bald.

Dale also loved her employees that she had throughout the years at the restaurant, or at least most of them. She could be stern at times, because things were done her way to benefit the restaurant. She had three cooks at the restaurant for a total of 45 years. Her office door was always open for her employees to talk, and it didn't have to be work related. She was there for her employees in any manner that was needed.

Dale supported Rutherford County by sponsoring many Little League teams, donations to RS Central, their boosters, and RS Central gatherings, many churches and food ministries just to name a few.

Her services will be at Crowe's Mortuary and Chapel on Thursday April 6, 2023 at 2:30pm. Receiving of friends will be held from 1-2:30pm. Rev. Ron Scoggin, Jr. will conduct the service and Diane Hamrick will provide the Eulogy. Burial will be at Round Hill Baptist Church.
