It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of David Michael Morrow. He peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2026 at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 5, 1951 in Cleveland County, NC. David was one out of twelve beloved children of the late Johnny "Dock" Morrow and Myrtle Lee Bell Morrow. Growing up, he developed a deep sense of duty and love for his country. He is also preceded in death by Virginia "Gin" Morrison, Archie Morrow, Johnny Morrow, Glenn Morrow and Stan Morrow.
Answering the call to serve, David enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served in the United States Army seeing action during the Vietnam War.
Following his honorable discharge, David brought the same discipline, loyalty, and camaraderie to civilian life. He worked for many years as an HVAC mechanic for Thermo Kinetics, Leigh Fibers and Century Contractors. His work with Thermo Kinetics allowed him to travel all across the western United States and he particularly enjoyed the time spent in Arizona. He spent the last part of his career managing the cooling system at the PPG plant in Shelby, NC. He loved the outdoors and was fascinated with nature. He enjoyed spending time at the river, fishing, watching the wildlife and taking pictures. He stayed on the go all the time and never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing Scrabble online with various family members and was quite hard to beat at times. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo and could play many songs just from listening to them.
Above all, David was a devoted family man. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Joann Toney (Chad), Brandi Morrow Martin (David) and Seth Morrow; grandchildren, Ashley Young (Nate) and Patrick Toney; siblings, Frank Morrow, Sarah Jones, Louise Robinson, Bonnie Pearson (Gary), Cathy Elgin (Rick) and Dennis Morrow (Lynda); numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Eastside Baptist Church, 308 York Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086 with Rev. Ken Faulkenbury officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military Honors by Post 100 of Cherryville, North Carolina.
