David Randell Bowen, 77, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC.

Randell was born on January 27, 1948 in Cleveland County and was the son of the late George Newton Bowen and Lucy Greene Bowen. He was retired after 27 years of service from Celanese and was also retired from American Tire Distributors. Randell was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Gideon International. He was a lifetime member of the American Iris Society where he served as a master judge of the Iris Society. Randell also served as a volunteer EMT for 48 years

Randell is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Patricia "Pat" Smart Bowen; son, David Bowen and wife, Kathy of Lattimore; daughter, Tracie Wray and husband, Jeffrey of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Judy McElrath and husband, Dean of Black Mountain and Sherry Justice and husband, Ricky of Shelby; three grandchildren, Megan Wray Self and husband, Alex, Amber Wray and Sarah Bowen; a great-grandchild, Blaire Self and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, Shelby.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 5:30 PM at Bethel Baptist Church with the Dr. Tim Sims officiating.

The burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 9, 2025 at Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Lawndale with the Rev. Stephen Brackeen officiating.
