David Vernon Hicks, born September 4, 1947, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at Via Wendover Hospice House, with his wife by his side. His passing brings deep sorrow to those who knew and loved him, while also inviting gratitude for a life remembered with love.
David was preceded in death by his father, Vernon I. Hicks, and his mother, Willie Mae Stinchcomb Hicks. Their memory remained an enduring part of the life he carried forward.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Tracy Hicks, with whom he shared 21 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters, AnnaBelle Hicks and Ashley Moore, and by Ashley's wife, Nikki. David's memory will also be cherished by his brother, Rick Hicks, and Rick's wife, Sue, as well as by his sisters, Alicia Fuller and Joan Bell. In the hearts of his family, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and loved one whose presence brought comfort and meaning.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on October 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, North Carolina 28150. A Celebration of Life will follow there from 5:00 p.m.
As those who loved David come together to honor him, they will remember a life that mattered deeply to his family and a man whose memory will remain close to their hearts.
