Donald Lee Ross

Donald Lee Ross, 82, of Shelby, left his life of pain on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. He was surrounded by his children and in the arms of his loving wife.

Born in Cleveland County on July 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Sherman Ross and Irene McNeely Ross. Don graduated from Fallston High School in 1957. He held a number of different jobs after that. He then began a career with Lowes Hardware Store until 1977 when he retired. After that he did what he enjoyed, working on cars, remodeling, working on the farm or anything that gave him enjoyment. Don loved his animals especially his best buddies Red and Ubu.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Farrell Ross, an infant brother, one sister, Jackie Ross Pierce and mother-in-law, Lunette Cook.

Left to cherish his memory, his soulmate and wife of 45 years, Sue Cook Ross; daughter, Darla Ross Wyatt and husband Stan; son, David Ross; daughter, Patty Ross Edmondson and husband Rob; daughter, Lisl Elliott-Wright; son, Jason Elliott and wife Kiesha, and ex son-in-law, Randy Wright; three special grandchildren and caretakers, Sarah Dyson, DJ Elliott and Joey Wright; three sisters, Shirley Causby and husband Richard, Joyce Warren and husband Roy and Cathy Dick; his father-in-law, Carl Cook and brothers-in-law, Dewey Cook, Russell Cook and Lee Cook. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at St. Paul Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3:00pm at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Marcus McGill officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery.
