In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Etta Blanton.

Mr. Smith loved to watch westerns go to the beach and play with his grandchildren. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Donnis Smith; three daughters, Connie Burgess and husband Eddie of Ellenboro, Diane Hodge and husband Jeff of Forest City and Helen Emery of Ellenboro and special friend David Hamrick of Shelby; one son, Ricky Smith and wife Rita of Ellenboro; one special aunt, Ada Nanney of Shelby; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation: Pilgrim Baptist Church, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 1:30-3:00pm
