Donna Bailey Holcomb

Donna Bailey Holcomb, 91 of Mooresboro died Saturday, February 21 2015, in her nieces' arms in the Hollis Community.

A native of Rutherford County she was the daughter of the late Jehu and Laura Bailey. She worked in textiles most of her life and retired from Dicey Mills.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Therlo Pete Bailey, Charlie Bailey, Jake Bailey, and her sisters, Omalee Melton, Nancy Pearl Lawing, Daisy Fisher, Ola Butler, and Polly Winters

She loved and was the caregiver for three loving husbands James Alvin (Whitey) Moore, Benjamin Holcomb, and George Limerick who all died of cancer.

Donna was the matriarch of the Baileys. She was our Rock. She took care of everyone and exemplified a true Christian life. She was an extremely amazing, strong and hard headed woman. She constantly loved, advised, supported, and scolded her family and friends as needed. Donna could not have children of her own, In 1967 when her brother's wife died in a car accident she took 2 nieces' and 2 nephews under her wing. She drove from Six Points to Hopewell every Sunday to make sure that they were in church. Left to cherish her memory are those nieces' and nephews and their spouses: Janice Bailey Stutte and Gary, Judy Bailey Gettys and Charles, Michael Bailey, and Larry Bailey and Donna. Two other special nephews and their spouses are Larry and Donna Burgess and Eddic and Connie Burgess, and their son Rocky Burgess. In addition Donna's honorary great great grandchildren are Bailey Watkins age 3 and Alex Clark age 10 who brightened her world during her final days. There are also other numerous nieces and nephew left to cherish her memory.

Services will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday, February 25th 2015 at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Neil Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Walls Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
