Dorothy Burton Tilley, age 84, of Forest City, died February 4, 2016 at Hospice of Forest City. She was a native of Yancey County and the daughter of the late Molt and Alpha Burton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest City, and retired from Rutherford County School System, having worked many years at Spindale Elementary School as school secretary. After retirement she loved to go on bus tours
and travel in many cities in North America and Canada. She also enjoyed camping and going to the beach.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Jim Tilley of Forest City, sons Rodney and wife Carrie, of Spindale; Gregory Tilley and wife Rhonda, of Greensboro, NC; sisters: Doris Bolick of Hickory NC; Dora Price of Rutherfordton, NC; and Teresa Price of Rutherfordton, NC; grandchildren: Susan, Chris, Jamie, Michael, Dwayne, Annie, Sara, and Meagan; and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Walter and Don Burton.

Funeral services will be held 5PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour to the service at the mortuary.

Graveside services will be held 2PM Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery in Green Mountain, NC.
