Doyt Lee Johnson

Doyt Lee Johnson, 80, of 1710 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
Born April 14, 1933 in Randolph County, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Jasper Newton Johnson and Vera Shaw Johnson. He was employed for Bernhardt Furniture Company since 1973 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lawndale where he was a usher and a member of the United Methodist Men. Mr. Johnson was a member of Fallston American Legion and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid sports fan and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Von Frank Johnson and a sister, Helen Embler.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Anna Waterhouse Johnson; four sons, Phil Johnson and wife, Melissa, Kirby Johnson and wife, Kris and Scott Johnson all of Shelby and Douglas Johnson and wife, Megan of Chesire, CT; sister, Iris Shaw of Thomasville; eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Daniel, Kelly, Devon, Andy, Tyler, Will, Lucas, Matthew and Meighan and two great-grandchildren, Abram and Adalynn.
Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Lawndale. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston
