Dr. Virginia Oates Henderson, 79, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at her residence. She was born on November 28, 1941 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Charles Oates and the late Lucy Amanda Hunter Oates.

Mrs. Henderson early on in her life graduated high school at the tender age of 15 and pursued her education until she became a Doctor of Education. During her years of being employed, she enjoyed teaching in public schools until she retired as a college professor at a university in Charlotte NC.

Dr. Henderson was also an ordained Reverend and had performed many ceremonies in her walk with God. She was a faithful member of a congregation in Charlotte, NC.

Upon her many achievements in life, Dr. Henderson enjoyed working on her film/documentation with plans to work with Tyler Perry until she became unable to complete the project. Dr. Henderson also enjoyed traveling, research, her cats and helping others. She really loved her entire family and was present for every event and she also organized many family reunions.

In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Oates, Samuel Oates and Joseph Donald Oates and two sisters, Barbara Schenck and Delloa Idola Oates.

She leaves fond memories to her brother, Dec. Stonewall Oates; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeannette Oates; special friend, Dr. Charles Rogers and a host of nephews, nieces, god-children including her namesake, Peggy Virginia Oates and other relatives and friends
