Dwight Howell Shuford, 90, of Shelby joined his beloved late wife, Barbara in heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was a man who found joy in a life well lived and simply lived. After retiring from a long career in the textile industry, he continued his dedication to service through many years with the Sheriff's Department, where he made many dear friends.

In his quieter moments, he was happiest at home, relaxing on his porch, watching the birds and taking in the peaceful view of the lake. An avid fisherman, he cherished time near the water whether that was at the lake or the beach.

A lifelong member of Palm Tree Church, the church he loved deeply since childhood, his faith was the foundation of his life. He loved the Lord, his family, his church family and many friends. He treasured long conversations with family and good friends. His stories, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of faith, service and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Robert Shuford and Pauline Floyd Shuford; wife, Barbara Hammett Shuford; brother, Warren Shuford and son-in-law, Doug Satterfield.

He is survived by a son, Richard Dwight Shuford (Paula) of Marietta, Georgia; two daughters, Sandra Shuford Satterfield of Shelby and Lisa Shuford Batca (Ron) of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Adam Satterfield (Melissa), Luke Satterfield, Lara Batca and Alec Batca, sister, Joan Dedmon of Shelby and sister-in-law, Joyce Shuford of Lawndale.

Private service was held by the family.
