Earnest "Big Boy" Fowler, 62, died Friday, September 9, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Wesley and Annie Emery Fowler. He worked in construction and enjoyed playing dominos and cards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Tammie Whitworth Fowler; brothers, David and Johnny Whaley; and sisters, Betty Hawkins and Ina Maloney.

He is survived by his daughter, Danyel Nichols and husband Daniel of Grover; son, Morris T. Ramey and fiancée Summer Bradshaw of Lawndale; sisters, Carolyn Hamrick and husband Pinkey of Shelby, Susie Stevens and husband Sam of FL and Brenda Ledford and husband Steve of Shelby; brothers, Steve Whaley of FL, Mike Fowler and wife Janice and Stacey Fowler and wife Jamie, both of Shelby; grandchildren, Jessica Moss and husband Tyler of Blacksburg, Amber Tesseneer and husband Josh of Shelby, Jada Whisenant and husband Blake of Gaffney, Jacob Ramey and fiancée Katlyn Newton of Casar and Jordan Mayes and fiancée Abbie Hovis of Blacksburg; great grandchildren, Raelynn Moss and Lainey Whisenant; two bonus grandchildren, Savannah and Paige Nichols of Shelby; and special friends, Joey Clark and Pam Martin, both of Lawndale and Deana Hill of Gaffney.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, September 12, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tyler Moss officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
