Effie "Bonnie" Lowery, age 73, of Forest City, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Atrium Health-Charlotte.
Bonnie was born Thursday, June 4, 1953 in Rutherford County to the late Bobby Lee Givens and Ruby Atchley Givens. She was a graduate of Ashbrook High School, class of 1971 and worked as a CNA for Carolina Community Care for several years and for the Fast Foods Plant for over thirty years. Her life's passion was spending time with her family, especially her girls and grandson. Bonnie loved going to watch her grandson play baseball.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Ricky Ray Lowery and brother, Kenneth Givens.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Apryl Hamrick (Dale) and Jessica Walker all of Forest City; grandson, Austin Walker; granddaughters, Julia Hamrick, Jamie Montieth and Courtney Williams; sisters, Joyce Hutchins of Mooresboro, Donna Hendrix of Coker, Alabama; brother, Bruce Givens of Forest City along with several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 24th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at the home of Dale and Apryl Hamrick, 1735 Old Caroleen Road, Forest City.
