Elizabeth Meade Griffin, 82, of Shelby passed away on August 11, 2025 at her home.

She was born on July 8, 1943 in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late James Frank Wood and Era Mae Wright Wood. She was retired from Bernhardt as a lead seamstress and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Buren Jimmy Meade; second husband, Gordon Lewis Griffin; a son, Chris Meade; a grandson, Chad Meade; son-in-law, Shawn Burton; a brother, James Wood; and two sisters, Norma Collins and Frances Wood.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Burton of Shelby, and son, Walter L. Griffin and wife, Charisse of Waldorf, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Sandy Meade of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Delance Burton of Shelby, Brandi Blanton of Boiling Springs, Kyle Griffin and wife, Varina of Orlando, Fl, Shannon Griffin of Richmond, VA, Thomas, Matthew and William Griffin of Waldorf, MD and; three great-grandchildren, Cory Blanton of Boiling Springs, Hunter Blanton of Boiling Springs and Skye Griffin of Orlando, Fl.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Buffalo Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Mace officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
