Ella "Jan" Janois Dayberry Justice, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at her home in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Born on April 28, 1939, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Jan was the daughter of the late William Howard Dayberry and Chloe Hartman Dayberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Joshua Dean Justice and Joseph Howard McSwain; and her brother, Dean Dayberry.

Jan is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Max Buford Justice; her sister-in-law, Ann Dyer; her daughter-in-law, Derita; along with other loving family members and friends.

Jan was a Charter Member of Christopher Road Baptist Church in Shelby. She loved her family dearly and remained faithful to her church family throughout her life.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Christopher Road Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held Wednesday May 27th beginning at 11:00 AM at Cleveland Memorial Park.
