Ella Lee Bowen Mode, 94, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Ella was loved deeply and will be remembered for her unwavering love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will be cherished always.

In addition to her parents, Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Mode; brother JR Bowen, her son-in-law, John Brown; and her grandchild, Alan Keever.

Ella is survived by her children, Virginia Brown, Jane Keever (David), and C.M. Mode (Deana); her grandchildren, Brian Keever (Emily Harrison), Summer Keever, Chris Brown, Will Brown, Erin Donaghy (Chris), Shane Brown, and Jennifer Thompson; and her great-grandchildren, Trent Brown, Jaxon Keever, Oliver Keever, Madi Donaghy, and Georgianna Connell. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Angie.

To celebrate the life of Mrs. Mode, the family will receive friends at her home, 2911 Dravo Road, Shelby, NC 218152 on Saturday March 21, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
